Preservation in Progress: Oklahoma’s 30th Annual Statewide Preservation Conference
June 6-8, 2018 The Mayo Hotel, Tulsa
Join your colleagues to dive into the future of historic preservation statewide, and stay current on the fundamentals for preserving Oklahoma’s heritage. This year’s conference is packed with plenary sessions, workshops, education sessions and special events.
A half-day field study, Downtown Dwelling Spaces: A Mobile Workshop on Historic Residential Rehab, will highlight successful historic tax credit projects. Participants will tour several HTC projects, and learn from the architects and developers as they discuss their own experiences and challenges on site.If you’ve ever wondered how they do it, this workshop is not to be missed! Architects – earn 3 HSW credits!
A full-day boot camp for boards and commissions, CAMP: Commission Assistance and Mentoring Program will take place on Thursday. This specialized training from the National Alliance of Preservation Commissions (NAPC)will focus on preservation-related boards and commissions of all types with hands-on exercises, group discussions and presentations.
Three tracks of learning sessions will focus on partnerships; technology, techniques and formulas for success; and incentives for preservation of Oklahoma’s heritage.
TRACK A: If You Rehab It, They Will Come, focuses on the rehabilitation of historic buildings and best practices.
TRACK B: Anything Worth Doing is Worth Doing Right, highlights efforts made to protect and preserve our statewide heritage.
TRACK C: Come Together, Right Now, features community partnerships.
Special events include a reception at the historic Ponca City Savings & Loan Building; bus and walking tours with Tulsa Foundation for Architecture; Preservation Oklahoma, Inc.’s annual meeting and luncheon; and the State Historic Preservation Office’s annual awards banquet.
