Tulsa Foundation for Architecture’s George R. Kravis Archives houses the largest collection of architectural plans, photographs, and publications focused on Tulsa’s architectural history. Curated Conversations: Behind the Scenes with Archivist, Malinda Blank: The Koberling Collection will give participants an opportunity to learn what the collection holds, receive an update on the work being done, and hear more about one of the largest collections in the Archive.
Born in Tulsa in 1915, Robert E. Buchner is best known for his midcentury modern architectural designs. He had an eye for interior design including furniture and accessories and operated an interior division in his practice. Some of his most notable works include Ponca City Savings & Loan, Mayo Meadow Liquor Store, Florence Park Library, Engler Photo Supply. Residential projects include The H.L. Singletary and Scherbatskoy homes. In the 1970s, he opened and operated the gift shop Robert Buchner Selections in Utica Square.
The Buchner Collection was donated to TFA in 2005 and contains architectural plans for 114 buildings, his drawing instruments and drafting table, photographs, and a research library.
