Drafts and Design is a partnership program among Tulsa Foundation for Architecture and Tulsa breweries that invites guests to participate in a wide variety of hands-on design workshops while enjoying locally crafted beer. From turning historic Tulsa photos into original works of art through hand-tinting to creating abstract punch needle wall hangings, Drafts and Design offers something unique for everyone. Workshops include all necessary supplies and tools and are led by expert facilitators.
A variety of local beers may be purchased to enjoy during each workshop directly from the brewery.
Embroidery is a timeless craft that transcends culture and geography, having been found as early as 3500 BC in China. Although it started as a way to tailor and mend clothing, techniques were developed that opened up possibilities for decorative stitching. Contemporary artists and designers use embroidery today to communicate ideas and embellish a variety of materials, including paper.
In this workshop you will learn a variety of stitches that you will use to embellish architectural details from facsimile blueprints of one of Tulsa’s most famous landmarks -The Mayo Hotel. All supplies are included and after the workshop you’ll take home a one-of-a-kind work of art on paper to frame and enjoy for years to come!
*Please note that depending on the level of detail that you desire, you may need to complete this project at home (you’re welcome to take home your embroidery needle and colored thread from the workshop to complete at your leisure).
