Tulsa Foundation for Architecture’s George R. Kravis Archives houses the largest collection of architectural plans, photographs, and publications focused on Tulsa’s architectural history. Curated Conversations: Behind the Scenes with Archivist, Malinda Blank: The Koberling Collection will give participants an opportunity to learn what the collection holds, receive an update on the work being done, and hear more about one of the largest collections in the Archive.
At over 10,000 pieces, the Joseph R. Koberling Collection contains original architectural plans and drawings, photographs, books, and business ephemera. Born in Hungary, Koberling immigrated to Tulsa in 1917. He was in the first graduating class from Central High School and was a student of Adah Robinson. He worked in Tulsa from 1925 until his death in 1990. His work portfolio is extensive and includes Will Rogers High School, Morningside Hospital, The Palace Theater, the Genet Building, the Oklahoma Osteopathic Hospital, KVOO Brookside Broadcast Center, as well as many more. This program will focus on the work and legacy of Koberling as well as provide an opportunity to view his work firsthand.
