Drafts and Design is a partnership program among Tulsa Foundation for Architecture and Tulsa breweries that invites guests to participate in a wide variety of hands-on design workshops while enjoying locally crafted beer. Mark your calendar, Drafts & Design takes place the first week of each month.From turning historic Tulsa photos into original works of art through hand-tinting to creating abstract punch needle wall hangings, Drafts and Design offers something unique for everyone. Workshops include all necessary supplies and tools and are led by expert facilitators. A variety of local beers may be purchased to enjoy during each workshop directly from the brewery.
In this workshop, you’ll create an original 8 x 8 painting on watercolor paper using acrylic paints while learning about Tulsa’s only Frank Lloyd Wright home, Westhope. The subject of this painting will be a rainy day view of Westhope’s stunning backyard in spring as pictured through one of the homes 5,200 panes of glass blurred by fog and adorned with raindrops. Artist Anne Pollard James will guide you through the creation of your painting using the image below of Westhope’s backyard as inspiration. Your painting may be more realistic or more abstract depending on your preference.
This workshop is beginner friendly – no painting experience is necessary!
