Drafts and Design is a partnership program among Tulsa Foundation for Architecture and Tulsa breweries that invites guests to participate in a wide variety of hands-on design workshops while enjoying locally crafted beer. From turning historic Tulsa photos into original works of art through hand-tinting to creating Ikebana style floral arrangements, Drafts and Design offers something unique for everyone. Workshops include all necessary supplies and tools and are led by expert facilitators. A variety of local beers may be purchased to enjoy during each workshop directly from the brewery.

Ikebana is the ancient art of Japanese floral design that focuses on honoring each flower and giving space for each stem to shine. Different from a traditional, lush floral arrangement with a variety of blooms – ikebana is a minimal art using a minimal variety of floral stems, a pin frog, and a low vessel. In this workshop Katie and Jenny of Anthousai will teach this ancient approach to floral design. The architecture of Frank Loyd Wright will be used as source of inspiration in this workshop.

All flowers, tools, and materials will be provided. Anthousai will discuss and demonstrate their approach to ikebana floral arranging, how they drew inspiration from the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright for this workshop, and guide attendees as they create their own ikebana creations! All attendees will walk away with their own ikebana arrangement, as well as the skills and know-how to continue crafting Ikebana style arrangements on their own in the future!

TICKET INFORMATION: Tickets for this event are $120 for not yet members and $90 for members. *Please note that beer selections are not included in the ticket price and can be purchased directly from the brewery.
