This 1925 map of Mohawk Park, uncovered last month during our ongoing collection survey, may very well be the largest document in the TFA archives! Perhaps it is no wonder, for at 2,800 acres, the park is the biggest in Tulsa and one of the largest in the United States. Conceived in 1924 as part of the Tulsa Public Works Project, it is still enjoyed almost a century later by members of our community who come to take in its wildlife and hiking trails or to visit the Oxley Nature Center, Tulsa Zoo, and Mohawk Park Golf Course, all of which are situated on the grounds.
Each month, we will be highlighting an artifact newly found in our collections—all thanks to the ongoing support of our members.
