Tulsa boasts a wide variety of residential architecture from the late 1800s through today. From midcentury modern, craftsman bungalows and colonial revival to contemporary mansions, there is an abundance of interesting homes throughout the city. The goal of TFA’s newest residential-focused program, Distinctive Dwellings, is to give those who love architecture an opportunity to see behind the doors of Tulsa’s most distinctive residences through self-guided exploration. Each guest will received a brochure with historic information about the property and have the opportunity to explore the home at their own pace.
This Distinctive Dwellings open house features McFarlin Mansion.
This 8352 sq ft home was constructed in 1918 and still retains the elegance and opulence of Tulsa’s oil-boom era. The mansion, which sits on a large, 0.67-acre lot near downtown, has been listed in the National Register of Historic Places since the 1970s.
Although this home is over 100 years old, it was built out of reinforced steel and concrete, ensuring its longevity throughout the years. Many of the home’s original elements — wood paneling, custom wallpaper and more — are still in-tact and in great condition, making you feel like you are stepping back in time.
Join us on September 22nd to tour this one-of-a-kind home and learn more about its history, its recent restoration, and what’s in store for its future!
