Greenwood: In Partnership
Saturday, May 25, 2024
$25 | $18.75 | Start Times from 9:30 – 11:10 AM
Vernon Partnership with TFA: Historic Vernon African Episcopal Methodist Church’s docents will collaborate with TFA, making stops at plaques lining the sidewalks from Archer and Greenwood to Vernon A.M.E. Church. These plaques commemorate significant locations such as R.T. Bridgewater, S.M. Jackson Funeral Home, The Williams Building confectionary, The Dreamland Theater, and The Black Wall Street Memorial. As the tour progresses into Vernon, visitors will encounter stained glass windows depicting the individuals and businesses highlighted by the plaques. These windows serve as a living testament to the rich history embedded in the architecture of Historic Vernon A.M.E. Church, showcasing the resilience and legacy of the community.
TICKET INFORMATION: Tickets for this tour are $25 for not yet members and $20 for members (25% discount). We want to do our part to help cultivate the next generation of architecture lovers, so kids 12 and under are welcome to participate in most of our tours free of charge!
