DESCRIPTION: Explore downtown Sapulpa on the Sapulpa: Muscogee Trading Roots to Boomtown Tour and discover the city’s prairie commercial architecture and Native roots.
See architecture constructed between 1904 and 1952 situated on Native land and learn how Sapulpa transformed from a historic Muscogee trading hub to a thriving oil and industrial center and whose downtown lies on the path of the legendary U.S. Route 66.
Guests will see landmarks such as the Railroad Depot, the Cowman Building, the old City Hall, and many other early 20th-century Plains commercial buildings, each telling a piece of Sapulpa’s unique story.
Whether you’re an architecture aficionado or just curious about the beauty around you, this tour offers an engaging journey into design, history, and culture. You’ll leave with a sharper eye and a deeper appreciation for Tulsa’s architectural treasures!

ENVIRONMENT: This tour will take place outdoors.
YOUR TICKET TIME: Please arrive 10 minutes early to get checked in. Please note that you will only be permitted to tour at the time you selected when purchasing your tickets. If you have questions about your ticket time, please email us a minimum of 24 hours in advance at info@tulsaarchitecture.com and we’ll be happy to provide assistance.
SUPPORT INFORMATION: TFA tours include 0.5-1.5 miles of walking (typically on streets/sidewalks, which sometimes include uneven terrain) in a variety of weather conditions. Please look ahead at the weather, plan to wear sturdy footwear, layers, and bring weather related items such as umbrellas, hats, gloves, fans, visors, sunscreen or other comfort items, as needed. You’ll be on foot for up to 1.5 hours.
Seating is limited or non-existent along many of our tour routes. If it will improve your experience, we encourage you to bring a lightweight stool, walking stick, or other assistive device!
Routes to avoid stairs are planned in advance for those who need an elevator or ramp. Our docents use a personal microphone to enhance hearing ability for all on the tour. You are welcome to move closer to the docent or request a volume adjustment at any time.

RESCHEDULING POLICY: Tulsa Foundation for Architecture may reschedule events at its discretion due to weather, emergencies, or unforeseen circumstances. Ticket holders will be notified by email and should watch email and social media for updates. If unable to attend a new date, tickets may be exchanged for a voucher toward an equivalent TFA program.
TICKET REFUNDS: Refunds are available up to 7 days before a tour. No refunds will be issued within 7 days of the tour date. In the event of cancellation, a full refund will be automatically provided.
