TFA CAMP ARCHITECTURE gives curious kids an opportunity to dive into an architectural topic of interest and test out their own creative design ideas. Each week explores a different theme through hands-on creativity, guided investigations of architectural examples, and interactive presentations and discussions led by our highly qualified Educators and special guests (professional working architects, engineers, property developers, city planners, and interior designers).
AGES: For students entering grades 3-6 (ages 8-11)
TIMES: Each week-long camp is Monday through Friday 9:00-4:00.

SESSION 1: URBAN NEIGHBORHOOD DESIGN

Summer is a great time to explore downtown Tulsa. Students in this camp will investigate how Tulsa has changed over the years and what’s in store for the future. The group will experience historic Tulsa buildings to see how people lived in the past, explore advancements in architecture today, and speculate about how we might live in the future as they create their own designs using a variety of materials to construct their version of ideal urban neighborhood.
EDUCATOR BIO: ALLISON LACKNER
Allison Lackner is a Tulsa Based artist and educator. She frequently incorporates architectural and design elements into her art. Her passion for architecture and design began in childhood as she observed her father professionally design hundreds of kitchens and bathrooms, through his local Tulsa company, Jay Rambo. Allison holds an MFA in Ceramics and a BFA in photography, both from The University of Tulsa. Allison is currently employed as an elementary art teacher with Tulsa Public Schools. A seasoned educator, Allison has taught a variety of camps, classes, and workshops with The Arts & Humanities Council of Tulsa, Youth Services of Tulsa, Fab Lab Tulsa, Monte Cassino School, and Gilcrease Museum.
