Drafts and Design is a partnership program among Tulsa Foundation for Architecture and Tulsa breweries that invites guests to participate in a wide variety of hands-on design workshops while enjoying locally crafted beer. Mark your calendar, Drafts & Design takes place the first week of each month.From turning historic Tulsa photos into original works of art through hand-tinting to creating abstract punch needle wall hangings, Drafts and Design offers something unique for everyone. Workshops include all necessary supplies and tools and are led by expert facilitators. A variety of local beers may be purchased to enjoy during each workshop directly from the brewery.
Gelli printing is a monoprinting technique using a gel printing plate. A gelli plate is a sort of soft and sticky plate made out of a polymer material. Monoprinting is a printing technique with which you can only create one print. This is the opposite of for example a rubber stamp, with which you can reproduce an image over and over again. With a monoprint you can never reproduce the exact same image twice, hence the name monoprint. Originally a print-maker uses a glass plate or acrylic plate to make monoprints. But to make prints you would need an expensive printing press. With a gelli printing plates you can make beautiful prints, but without the necessity of press.
In this workshop, you’ll learn a variety of Gelli printing techniques, including how to transfer a number of iconic Tulsa architectural images. All supplies are included and after the workshop you’ll take home multiple prints to enjoy!
This workshop is beginner friendly – no printmaking experience is necessary!
